Eikei University of Hiroshima (EUH) holds "Evening Lounge" as part of its support for students' competency development and career development. We were honored to have Dr. MAENO Takashi, Ph.D. Professor, Graduate School of SDM, Keio University, give a lecture at the EUH Evening Lounge., Nov. 12th, 2024.

EUH Visiting Professor MAENO Takashi

Dr. MAENO spoke about the “Four Factors of Happiness,” "Let's try factor,", "Gratitude factor," "You can do it factor," and "Be yourself factor” under the title of “Research on Subjective Happiness and Well-Being.

First, he talked about the world happiness ranking.He mentioned that Finland has been ranked No. 1 in recent years, while Japan has been ranked the lowest among developed countries. He also mentioned that collectivism, individualism, and genetic tendencies are factors in this, as well as Asian and European tendencies.

Dr. MAENO, who used to be an engineer, has been deepening his research on happiness focusing on people, not only on design methods for cameras and robots. He said that one of the main reasons for his research into Well-Being was that there was no one else who was researching and practicing human happiness in an applied way as an engineer.

He mentioned that it is very important to travel, meet many people, and experience various cultures.

He also gave a message that when talking with people, he encouraged them to talk a lot about their dreams.
