On Monday, November 6, 2023, a young venture capitalist, NATSUME Hideo, was invited to speak about the startup ecosystem in Japan, China, and the U.S., sharing his own experiences in the Introduction to Business Administration class taught by a lecturer, CHENG Ya-Fang, specializing in business administration who arrived in October this year.

【Guest speaker profile】

Born in Tokyo, Japan in 1995. Moved to Beijing, China at the age of 5 due to his parents' work. In 2017, he graduated from Tsinghua University School of Law and School of Economics and Management (double degree) and entered the School of Public Policy and Management of Tsinghua University. In 2020, he joined East Ventures, an independent venture capital firm based in Japan and Southeast Asia, where he involved in startup investment and support operations for invested companies. In 2023, he co-founded Asu Capital Partners, a venture capital firm with the theme "Japan to Global".

Following the opening by Lecturer, CHENG Ya-Fang, Mr. NATSUME explained "what venture capital is", "why he chose to become a venture capitalist", and "what the potential of the Japanese market and the appeal of entrepreneurship are".

The students seemed inspired by Mr. NATSUME's talk and asked many questions during the Q&A session at the end, including "advice for business ideas that students would like to work on", "business areas where Mr. NATSUME believes there will be growth in the future", and "advantages of working at a venture company".

In this way, EUH invite people who are active on the front lines of society as guest speakers in its classes to provide timely information that students "want to know now".
